Publisher: Israel Music Institute, 1993, IMI 7045 | Duration: 9'27 min.

In Per Viola, Betty Olivero experiments with the possible and individual expressions of the viola, concentrating on the character, timber and the very special sound of the instrument.

The composer deals chiefly with the pale characteristic sound and limited virtuoso potential of the instrument, compared to the violin.

There is an attempt to break away from the limitations of the instrument, to ”light up” its natural pale sound and to stretch to the maximum its typical diapason, so as to present it as a violin confined by its limitations, trying to break out its cage and be free.
